African Buddhist High School
African Buddhist High School is part of a broader vision that began with a simple but powerful idea: to provide quality, values-based education that transforms lives and communities.
The journey started at the Uganda Buddhist Centre, founded to promote peace, wisdom, and compassion in society. Recognizing the need for education rooted in both academic excellence and moral development, the Buddhist Peace School was established to serve young children, particularly from underserved communities.
This initiative grew out of a commitment to nurture not only intelligent learners, but also responsible, compassionate human beings guided by ethical values such as mindfulness, generosity, and kindness.
As the school expanded and its impact became evident, the vision naturally evolved. There was a clear need to continue this unique model of education beyond the primary level. This led to the establishment of African Buddhist High School.
Today, the High School stands as the next step in that journey an institution designed to shape well-rounded individuals by integrating:
- Strong academic foundations
- Buddhist principles such as mindfulness and compassion
- African cultural values and identity
- Practical skills for real-world success
The school is built on the belief that education should develop the head, the heart, and the hands equipping students with knowledge, character, and the ability to contribute meaningfully to society.
From its humble beginnings to its current growth, African Buddhist High School represents a continuing commitment to creating a new generation of leaders students who are thoughtful, ethical, skilled, and dedicated to building a more peaceful and just world.

Our Vision
“Wisdom For All”
Our vision is to bring forth knowledge and wisdom by training the head, hands, and promoting health and happiness. We strive to make “Wisdom for All” a reality, empowering students to become compassionate, critical thinkers who contribute positively to their communities.
Our Mission
Our mission is to provide a holistic education that integrates academic excellence, Buddhist values, and African cultural heritage.
Our Values
Our values serve as the compass guiding our students through life. Rooted in Obuntu bulamu (good manners) and African moral conduct, we nurture character alongside intellect. We cultivate critical thinking and curiosity, supported by science and technology innovations, while strengthening inner discipline through right mindfulness meditation and concentration practice.
At the same time, we emphasize wise compassion, equality, and gender equity, shaping students who are not only capable but also socially responsible. Through entrepreneurship, learners develop practical skills and a mindset for initiative and self-reliance.
These values are not abstract ideals. They are lived principles that shape how students think, act, and relate to others. Together, they build resilience, confidence, and a strong sense of purpose, enabling our students to navigate challenges, grow personally, and achieve success that extends well beyond the classroom.
